One thing about the modern auto, you can't accidentally lock your keys in
the car by slamming the door - as you now need the remote to do the locking.
On the other hand, anyone locked in such modern vehicle can't escape,
unless by breaking a window. An infant doesn't even have that option.
While fool-proofing everything, to save us from ourselves, has limits, it
is feasible that a movement sensor could be activated in a locked car, to
thus set going the air-con (with external air access) if a live body is
detected.
And, perhaps an alarm, to distract mum from the pokies, or chores in
house.
(Well, better than a manslaughter charge.)

In my car, you can still pull up the knob inside unless it is deadlocked.
It can only be deadlocked by turning the key, not by the remote button.
